However you may feel about the notion of playing a racing game by holding up your hands in front of you as if holding a virtual steering wheel, or the rumored price of no more than $80, Natal has gone and won itself a place on Time’s “50 Best Innovations of 2009″ list. Among the other items on the list are the $10 million lightbulb, teleportation, and the top invention, the Ares rocket. That’s pretty prestigious company for a videogame company to find something it developed being mentioned with. But the notion of playing a game without any sort of controller whatsoever is a pretty novel concept, after all.
Readers are allowed to vote on what they think the importance of each invention is, with the controller-free gaming that Natal allows currently sitting at #29. Thankfully people seem to agree a vaccine for AIDS is more important.
Obviously most people have yet to get their hands on Natal, but based on what you’ve seen so far, do you think Natal is worthy of being one of the top 50 inventions of 2009?
